“Brilliantly Crafted” Radio Wins Award for Voluntary Team

GRF Christian Radio, has won a Merit Award worth £750 presented by the Sandford St Martin Trust today (Tuesday 23 November) at an award ceremony at the House for an Art Lover in Glasgow.

The award was for a set of Thought for the Day short programmes commissioned and broadcast by Forth 2 in Edinburgh for Christian Aid Week 2004.  The programmes took the form of humorous sketches on the subject of food and fair trade, using impressions of TV celebrity chefs.

The judges, led by James Moir, former Controller of BBC Radio 2, said that the thoughts, at just 40 seconds duration each, were “mini marvels” and commended them for their wit and humour. Mr Moir added that the judges thought the programmes were “brilliantly crafted to sit perfectly within the context of a commercial station’s breakfast programme”.

GRF’s Programme Controller, Brian Muir, was delighted at this most recent award for programmes made by GRF.  He said “This is a great encouragement for the GRF team.  We’re particularly pleased that the award was made for our contribution to Christian Aid Week. GRF has been involved in programming for Christian Aid Week since 1994 and it was very rewarding to be able to comment on the important issues of trade and fairness.”
