Bringing Christian broadcasters together

An effective and innovative way of distributing Christian radio programmes to stations is now well up and running.

Audiopot is an internet-based system which allows radio stations and producers all over Britain to sample and download programmes made by producers such as GRF. GRF took part in a successful pilot of the system last year and now Audiopot has a membership of more than sixty people.

Members provide programme items (such as a ‘Thought for the Day’ or a short interview) and can use items already provided by others. These programmes are downloaded from a web site as ‘MP3’ files. These are broadcast-quality audio files which can be stored on a computer or ‘burned’ onto CD or mini-disc.

Audiopot is run by Christian broadcast charity HCJB-UK in Bradford and was developed with the help of technical expertise from the Methodist Church.

Through our contributions to Audiopot, GRF’s programmes have been downloaded by, amongst others:

  • Radio Vida (Gibraltar)
  • Millennium FM (London)
  • Premier Radio (London)
  • Nevis FM (West Highlands)
  • Moray Firth Radio (Inverness)
  • Northsound (Aberdeen)
  • Commission (Belfast)
  • Quay West Radio (Somerset)

Making the most of new technology is essential in the fast-changing world of radio. Contributing to Audiopot is also an extremely cost-effective way of supplying programmes to stations, and it allows for new partnerships to form between broadcasters from all over the country.
