Andrew Cross Awards 2001

Three Andrew Cross Awards for excellence in religious broadcasting were presented to GRF at the annual conference of Churches Advisory Council for Local Broadcasting (CACLB) in Derbyshire.

The first award was for a series of morning thoughts called Ally McDull - The Case against God transmitted on Radio Forth in Edinburgh last year.

A set of five spots of 20 seconds each, Ally McDull used the style of the Channel 4 TV series Ally McBeal to explore evidence for and against God's love.

The second Andrew Cross Award was for a series of morning thoughts for Christian Aid week, also transmitted on Radio Forth in Edinburgh last year. The Christian Aid week spots used short sketches illustrating the differences of life & opportunity between 'first' and 'third' world children.

The third Andrew Cross Award was for Wilderness, a programme in a six-part series for Lent called A Lenten Journey transmitted on Northsound Radio in Aberdeen.

A Lenten Journey is a series of reflective worship programmes for the six Sundays of Lent, including Palm Sunday. Personal reflections, readings and music explored themes of Lent: wilderness, acceptance, faith in the ordinary, and mercy and compassion.
